The One Thing Stopping You From Achieving Your Goals (And How To Overcome It)

The One Thing Stopping You From Achieving Your Goals (And How To Overcome It)

Did you know that only 5% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women? When it comes to being a successful female business owner, the odds truly are against us, so it’s easy to see why I always thought my dreams of owning my own business would remain just that - dreams.

Have you ever felt like the odds are against you too? You have these big goals, dreams, and desires, but they always seem out of reach. The thought of going for them is so overwhelming that you never even try. Besides, there are TONS of women out there hoping to achieve the very same things you’re after, and with so much competition what are the chances of success anyway? And let’s be honest, you’re not as qualified as your competition. You don’t have enough experience. You’re simply not good enough….

These were the thoughts that were going through my head before I finally decided to launch EVEDARE. And then I read something that changed my life:

Most people fail not because they lack the skills or aptitude to reach their goal but because they simply don't believe they can reach it.

“Most people fail not because they lack the skills or aptitude to reach their goal but because they simply don't believe they can reach it.” — Tim Ferriss.

That was it - it was all in my head! All I needed was a simple shift in mindset. And I’m willing to bet that the reason you haven’t gone for dreams yet is simply that you don’t believe you can.

And listen up, gorgeous, you ABSOLUTELY CAN!

You have all the skills, knowledge and qualities you need to succeed. And even if you don’t (YET!), you certainly have the ability to learn!

You’re an EVEDARE woman, and you’ve got this!

That being said, I know it’s easier said than done. Shifting your mindset isn’t something that happens overnight. It took me another two years after my “aha” moment to actually launch! So here are 3 tools I use to shift my mindset and achieve my goals.

1) Practice Affirmations

I’ve written a whole blog post about this in the past, but I wanted to share it again because this practice really is THAT powerful! Repeating positive affirmations such as “I am capable of achieving my dreams” or “I am a powerful, respected female business owner” has been scientifically proven to change the way our subconscious minds think about ourselves.

2) Focus on your strengths

Start off by writing down all the qualities, experience and qualifications you have that will allow you to achieve your dream. These could be qualities like hard working, excellent attention to detail or your sense of optimism. They could also be your work achievements, education or experience. Look at the list you have, and then add some more! Even better, ask your loved ones for their input - often times they see things in us we didn’t even know were there. Come back to this list whenever you start doubting yourself. In fact, read it daily and notice how your mindset begins to shift with each passing day.

3) Create a habit of thinking positively about yourself and your abilities

Creating a habit means implementing changes every single day. Actively working on your confidence day after day is a guaranteed way to shift your mindset and set you up to achieve your goals.

I learned this during my EVEDARE journey, which is why one of my first projects with my team was to create our 15 Days Of Confidence Challenge. I’m inviting the EVEDARE community to join us on a free 15-day journey to total self-confidence. After completing this challenge, which only takes two minutes a day, you will have shifted your mindset, leaving nothing to stop you from achieving your goals!
