3 Unusual Self-Care Beauty Tips

3 Unusual Self-Care Beauty Tips

It’s International Women’s Month – a time to celebrate all that makes us women beautiful. To me, our strength, resilience and compassion are three of the most incredible qualities of women, but it’s often these 3 admirable traits that leave us feeling exhausted. That’s why this month, I invite every woman in our community to honor herself by taking time out to practice self-care. In this blog post, I’m sharing my favorite self-care beauty tips. Some might surprise you, but I promise they will all leave you feeling refreshed, fabulous and ready to take on the world like the strong, resilient woman you are.

1. Set boundaries

But wait, isn’t this blog post about self-care beauty tips? Yes! But setting boundaries is proven to reduce stress and promote feelings of peace. And since stress is known to cause visible signs of aging, setting boundaries is actually a fabulous beauty tip in its own right.

Setting boundaries also opens up more time for more practical self-care practices like exercise, sleep and your monthly mani-pedi.

Some examples of setting boundaries include:

  • Saying no to things you don’t want to do, or don’t have time for.
  • Correcting other people’s bad behavior
  • Letting someone know how you want to be treated (and how you don’t want to be treated)

2. Eat more plant-based foods

Sometimes self-care is about what you put into your body, too. There’s no end to the benefits of a plant-based diet. Even if you don’t eat 100% vegan all of the time, increasing the number of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes in your diet can have incredible effects on your hair and skin. Focus on foods that are rich in antioxidants, for example:

  • Blueberries
  • Artichokes
  • Red cabbage
  • Spinach
  • Red grapes
  • Carrots
  • Kale

I wrote a blog post about the best plant-based foods for healthy lashes that lists delicious, healthy foods you can add to your diet.

3. Limit phone time

Research suggests that the average adult spends 3.5 hours a day on their phone. Spending time online is great for so many things (like learning about beauty and lash care tips) but studies show that spending time staring at a screen right before you go to bed can prevent you from having a good night’s rest. Getting enough sleep can prevent wrinkles, puffy eyes and uneven skin tone. There’s a reason why is called “beauty sleep” after all!

BONUS SELF-CARE TIP: Care for your lashes

Give your lashes the love they deserve! A list of our self-care beauty tips wouldn’t be complete without talking about lash care! The most important thing you can do to care for your lashes is to invest in a high-quality eyelash serum. EVEDARE Eyelash Serum is 100% vegan, cruelty-free and made from all-natural plant extracts. Use it morning and night to make self-care a part of your everyday beauty routine.
